Bio
Wolf-Dietrich Heyer, PhD is Distinguished Professor and Chair of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. Genome instability is a hallmark of most if not all tumors, and defects in DNA repair increase personal cancer risk. His research focuses on the mechanisms and regulation of recombinational DNA repair, which is a critical pathway for the repair of double-stranded DNA breaks, gaps, and interstrand crosslinks bearing significance in cancer etiology and anti-cancer therapy.
