Neil Hunter, PhD is Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and studies the chromosome repair process called homologous recombination, in which broken or damaged chromosomes utilize other homologous chromosome regions as templates for their repair. Homologous recombination underpins chromosome replication, genome stability and chromosome segregation during meiosis. Defects in homologous recombination are causative in several forms of cancer.
