Joanne Engebrecht, PhD is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and investigates how checkpoints monitor genome integrity and how DNA damage using C. elegans as a model. An understanding of these processes in the genetically tractable worm system will provide insight into basic mechanisms of checkpoint control and DNA repair and how checkpoints are circumvented in cancer.
