Daniel Starr, PhD is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and studies processes involved in how nuclei migrate to specific locations within a cell and, once there, how they anchor in place. His laboratory focuses on the mechanism by which the LINC complex spans the nuclear envelope to connect nuclei to the cytoskeleton. Defects in LINC complexes are associated with increased cancer rates, misshapen nuclei (a hallmark of many cancers), and failures for metastatic cells to migrate through constricted spaces.
